Job description

Planning Enforcement Officer 37 hours per week – 18 months - Fixed Term Contract

Band 5-6 - £30,024 - £36,363 (depending upon experience)

Are you looking to start or grow your career in planning? We have a great opportunity for a motivated and curious individual to join our Planning Compliance Team as a Planning Enforcement Officer.

As a Planning Enforcement Officer, you’ll play a key role in protecting the character and quality of Fenland’s built and natural environment. You’ll assess reports of potential planning breaches, carry out site visits, and work with residents, businesses, and colleagues to resolve issues fairly and effectively.

You don’t need previous planning enforcement or local government experience, although it would be an advantage We’re looking for someone who is a strong communicator, confident working with people and motivated to build expertise in a fast‑moving and rewarding area of work.

Enforcement sits within the Council’s Planning Service which has a team working and supportive approach at its core.  As you would expect, you will be working with other services within the Council and external agencies to get the necessary outcomes.

Fenland is a rural district with big skies and fresh air located in north Cambridgeshire with four market towns at its heart. Our offices are located in March; 5 mins walk from the railway station.  There is good access to the coast, Cambridge, London (via the east coast main line at nearby Peterborough) and beyond with very accessible house prices.

The Council operates a generous flexi-time scheme together with hybrid working and is offering a number of other benefits, including: a car (on the top of the salary) and travel allowance, payment of one professional subscription, free office parking, discounted leisure centre access and training and development opportunities. If you want to develop your career with a positive and forward-thinking organisation, we would like to hear from you.
