Accessibility Statement

This website is run by Fenland District Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings

  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen

  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard or speech recognition software

  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is

Our website is partially accessible.

This is to do with a number of issues that may impact users who are using the website with screen readers, or navigating with a keyboard.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Fenland District Council is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Our website is partially accessible. This is because of the following errors on some pages:

  •  Select elements do not have an associated label element

  • Heading elements are not in a sequentially descending order

  • Background and foreground colours do not have a sufficient contrast ratio

  • Definition lists are not correctly marked up for screen readers

  • Lists are not correctly marked up for screen readers

  • Screen readers cannot get a clear description of content within a frame

  • Users navigating with a keyboard cannot focus on some elements

  • Button and alt text values repeat themselves, meaning that screen reader users may hear the same information twice

These issues have been logged with our website provider who are working to fix them as soon as possible. Priority will be given to the faults who will most impact potential users from being able to access and apply for job vacancies.

Content not within the scope of accessibility regulations

Non-HTML documents published before September 2018 do not need to be accessible unless users need them to use a service.
