This is a key leadership role within our Development Management service.

You will lead a team of planning officers managing a varied caseload of applications, from householder proposals to major development. You will play an important role in shaping high-quality development, ensuring timely decision-making and delivering an excellent service to our communities and customers.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading, managing and supporting a team of planning officers
• Overseeing the handling of planning applications and pre-application enquiries
• Ensuring high standards of customer service and decision-making
• Contributing to service improvement and performance management
• Representing the Council at Planning Committee and appeals
• Working collaboratively across services and with external stakeholders

• Has significant experience in Development Management
• Is confident managing complex or major planning applications
• Can motivate and support a team in a busy environment
• Has strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Is organised, performance-focused and solutions-driven
